Jonnie F Moody, age 87, of North Port, Florida passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. A visitation for family and friends of Jonnie will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Memorial Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia.
Jonnie was born on October 31, 1935 in Starke, Florida; the daughter of Stafford L. Crews and Murlie Mae (Williams) Crews. She graduated from Bradford High School in Starke, FL. Jonnie married Carl H Edwards on July 25, 1954 at Starke, FL. Jonnie made Columbus her home and attended Edgewood Church of Christ and Evangel Temple Assembly of God, both in Columbus, GA. Jonnie was employed by the federal government for over 20 years, working primarily for the Department of the Army. The majority of those years were spent at Fort Benning, GA working as a secretary and stenographer. She also worked at Ft Bragg, NC, Schofield Barracks, HI and Ft. Wainwright, AK. She received multiple commendations for outstanding and superior job performance throughout her career. Jonnie loved her family, but her grandchildren and great grandchildren, well they had a special place in her heart. She used to love to repeat the stories of things they had said or things that they did that made her laugh. She felt that she had the most beautiful grands and great grands in the world.
Jonnie is preceded in death by: her parents, Stafford L Crews, Murlie Mae (Williams) Crews; a brother, William R. Crews; and ex-husband Carl H. Edwards.
Survivors include: her children, Sherry (John) Taylor, Paul Edwards; her grandchildren, Paula (Matt) Lawson, Jonathan (Brittany) Edwards; her step grandchildren, David (Kelly) Goins, Jamie Goins; 12 Great Grandchildren; and one Great Great Grandchild.
