Josie Tilson

Josie Tilson, age 96, resident of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Saturday, March 25, 2017, 2 p.m. with Reverend Stephen Brinkman officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5-7 p.m.

Mrs. Tilson, daughter of the late William E. Rowe and Maggie Madora Webster Rowe, was born December 19, 1920 in Phenix City, Alabama. She was retired from Civil Service where she faithfully worked at Fort Benning for over 43 years. Mrs. Tilson enjoyed working in her yard, bowling, and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Frank Tilson; two sisters, Margaret Carr and Mary Ellen Alarie; and two brothers, Theo Rowe and Billy Rowe. Mrs. Tilson is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Burch and her husband Frank of Columbus; one sister, Willie Mae Peed of Columbus; two grandchildren, Mandie Harris and her husband Brandon of Birmingham, Alabama and Todd Tilson of Columbus; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin Harris, MacKenzie Corbin, Gabe Harris, and Izzie Harris; many other relatives and friends.
