

Mrs. Turner was born April 5, 1936 in Marion County, Georgia to the late Mervyn Dewey Robinson and Mary Rutherford Robinson. She graduated from Marion County High School in 1954. She began her career at Southern Bell in 1954, retiring from Bell South in 1989.
Presiding over the service will be Clarence “Jackie” Robinson, her nephew. Pallbearers will be her nephews: Michael “Mike” Robinson, Darrell Robinson, Jeffery Robinson, Adam Robinson, Stanley Robinson, Joseph “Joey” Robinson.
Joyce is survived by three brothers: Clarence “Sonny” (Betty) Robinson, Bennie (Susan) Robinson, Rainey (Marion) Robinson of Juniper, GA and one sister: Sarah Robinson of Decatur, GA. She is also survived by many of her dearly loved nieces and nephews: Michael “Mike” Robinson, Clarence “Jackie” (Barbara) Robinson, Darrell (Betty) Robinson, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Robinson, Adam (Jennifer) Robinson, Stanley (Loretta) Robinson, Rebecca (Stephen) Coleman, Michelle (O’Neal) Morgan, Glynis Ligon. As well as 18 great nieces and nephews and 12 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mervyn Dewey Robinson and MaryWill Rutherford Robinson and her sister Mary Robinson Ligon Weaver.
Mrs. Turner had many loves. Some of her favorite hobbies included painting, gardening, volunteering, exploring with her nieces and nephews, spending time with her family and dear friend Jonnie Josey, going to lunch and researching her family tree. She was an avid member of Dixie Chapter 13 of the Bell South Pioneers, holding the position of President. She was also involved with the Chamber of Commerce serving as an ambassador for 20 years. She was an active member of many other volunteer organizations such as Crime Stoppers, Jail and Bail, and Tax Return for the unfortunate. She enjoyed volunteering her time reading to children at Allen Elementary. Mrs. Turner was very active with the Artist’s Guild serving as Historian and Vice President of Membership.
Visitation was held 5-7 pm, Friday, August 4, 2017 in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
