Judy was born on December 26, 1944, in Waycross, GA, to George Ralph and Clifford Overstreet McCormick. She graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, GA, in 1962, and from Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, in 1966. She taught school in Eden and Toast, NC, and later with the Department of Defense school system in Wildflecken, Germany.
As a military spouse, Judy made every new house a special home. She was honest, hardworking, and rescued many animals over the years. She loved music, reading, and her soulmate dog, Heebie Jeebie. Family gatherings brought her great joy—especially playing with her grandchildren, sing-alongs, and impromptu dance parties. Above all, she deeply loved her devoted husband, Danny.
Her greatest pleasure was raising her children, whom she taught to love, to give wholeheartedly to others, and to cook delicious food.
She would love to be remembered as someone who loved her family fiercely. Above all, she was strong, giving, and loyal.
Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Danny; daughter, Robin Elaine Douglas; son, Adam Bowling (Catherine); grandsons, K.J. Douglas and Josh Bowling; granddaughters, Andie Elaine Brooks (Daniel) and Jessi Elaine Oyler (Tanner); former daughter-in-law, Cindy Thompson Bowling; great-granddaughter, Cece Elaine Brooks; nephew, Dr. Kevin Neal (Adrienne); several great-nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Harriett Dukes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Janey May Murray and Cliff Ellen Reynolds; and a niece, Lisa Elaine Neal.
Services will be private. Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
