1949 – 2015
Julee Jambon Brandt gained her angel wings on November 24, 2015 surrounded by her family.
Born on December 27, 1949 in Columbus, Georgia, Julee was the daughter of Harold and Stella Jambon. She is survived by her two children: Judson Clark Brandt; Anna Brandt Sizemore and her husband Chris; her grandchildren, Clark and Charlotte Brandt, and Ellison and Mary Brandt Sizemore; her mother, Stella Boatright Jambon; her sister, Vicky Jambon Dickens and her husband Pete; her nephew, Stewart Leslie Dickens; her niece, Ansley Dickens Martin and her husband John; her great-nieces and nephews; her former husband, Steve Brandt; and, her special friend Danny Stallings. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Harold Jambon.
Julee was a 1968 graduate of Columbus High School. She attended Auburn University where she received a BA in Education. While at Auburn, she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She loved keeping up with her high school and college friends, her KD sisters, and following Auburn football.
Julee was an elementary school teacher, homemaker, devoted and beloved mother and grandmother (“JJ”), volunteer, sports fan, avid runner and “princess hiker”, tennis player and loyal friend to those of us fortunate enough have been apart of her journey through life. She loved animals, particularly her labs Addie and Bud. She was generous with her time and resources and involved in numerous philanthropic organizations for many years. She enjoyed reading and always sought to improve the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of her life. She was no stranger to a good time. Her faith was important to her as was being a member of First United Methodist Church.
Julee was the epitome of a true Southern lady - kind, elegant, beautiful, selfless and benevolent. She approached life, and its challenges, with uncommon grace and quiet dignity. Her radiant character, sense of humor, and southern charm were an inspiration to us all. The way she lived, the manner in which she treated others, and the way she dealt with her body’s fight against cancer continue to guide her family and friends during this difficult time. Julee embodied the very best in all of us.
Julee’s illness did not affect her spirit, impair her sense of humor, or diminish her appetite for life. She won the fight by how she lived with it, and how she used it to inspire those close to her. She never stopped smiling and telling everyone how great she was doing - for that we are indebted to her.
Julee and her family are grateful to the staff and doctors at UAB, her many loyal friends, including her dear friend Ivy Wallace, and all who provided her support and comfort.
