
Kathryn Johnson Snowden, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on May 15th at St. Francis Hospital. She was born September 17, 1933 to George C. Johnson and Genie Blythe Johnson in Juniper, Georgia. As a child, she moved with her family to Harris County where she attended Mountain Hill Elementary and Hamilton High School. In 1952, she married Charles H. Snowden. She spent her career working for Bell South. In addition to being a loving wife, she was the loving aunt to 16 nieces and nephews. She had the privilege of acting as grandmother to her young neighbors, Sydney and Matthew Davidson.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Charles, her brother George "Buddy" Johnson of Phenix City, Alabama and her sister, Rose Klein Johnson of Thompson Station, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Jane Johnson Offer and Mary Ann Johnson Morgan, and her brother, William M. Johnson.
The family would like to thank Amber Strickland, Sylvia Boswell, and Jasmine Sumbry for taking such good care of Kathryn for the last several years.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 20th, 2015 at Striffler Hamby Mortuary at 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The service will be followed by a brief graveside service and a reception in the Mill Room at Striffler Hamby.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Valley Rescue Mission.
