Kim Lafond

Kim was known as mama not just to her children, but her children’s friends as well. Another title she held proudly was grandma and mopmop to her grandchildren and all neighborhood kids – Queen of Cash 3 and scratch offs.

She made sure everybody was fed even if they weren’t hungry. Anyone who came over was bound to eat even when they didn’t want to; mama made sure of it. Although we are sad, we are at peace she is back with the love of her life she has waited 18 years to be with.

Kim was preceded in death by her husband, David LaFond; her twin sister, Hoang; her brothers, Can and Ke; and her parents, Nam and Hien. She survives by her children, Bonnie Sgontz, Linda Stephenson (Rodney), Robert LaFond (Danni) and Nancy Fiske (Doug); 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; her sisters, Suong Konek (Steve) and Saroung Kein (The) and numerous family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 with a visitation one hour prior.
