Laura Lujan

Laura Lujan, age 78, resident of Columbus, died on June 23, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 10 a.m. with Chaplain Dan MacMinn officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 28, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Lujan, daughter of the late Candido Romero and Ophelia Sandoval Romero, was born January 26, 1932 in Santa Fe, NM. She was retired from J.D. Davis Elementary School where she faithfully served for almost 20 years. Mrs. Lujan attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Mrs. Lujan is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Al Lujan of Columbus; two daughters, Laura Avriett and her husband Mickey of Lawton, OK and Gloria Strickland and her husband Damon of Columbus; five sons, Ken Lujan of Columbus, Joseph Lujan and his wife Sandy of Fortson, GA, James Lujan and his wife Darlene of Mobile, AL, Paul Lujan of Columbus, and John Lujan and his wife Sara of Columbus; one brother, Frank Romero of Santa Fe, NM; seven grandchildren, Kristy Wiler, Wendy Harper, Jennifer Bullard, Christina Knight, Angela Thornell, Kenneth Lujan, and Shawn Strickland; one great-granddaughter, Eva Wiler; other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
