A Rosary Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Wednesday at 6:00pm with a visitation to follow. The funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Anne’s Church with Father J. Gerard Schreck and Dr. James Elder officiating.
Born in Ft. Smith, AR, Stan was the eldest son to LTC (Ret) Lewis Stanley Swinehart, Jr. and Agnes Swinehart. After earning his bachelors degree from The University of New Hampshire, Stan graduated from OCS and was stationed in Dahlonega, GA as a Ranger Instructor. Here, he met his first wife, Elaine Argo Swinehart. In 1992, Stan retired from the military and worked at Park Properties until present day.
Above all of his accomplishments as a career Army officer, he was most proud of his two granddaughters and three grandsons; rarely missing a baseball game or dance recital. He enjoyed exercising, lunch dates with his children, and spending hours in the garden or by the pool with his wife of 17 years, Daunn Underwood Swinehart.
Stan is survived by his wife Daunn, daughters Teresa Ranieri (Tony) and Heather O’Shields (Matt), son Steven Swinehart (Buffy), granddaughters Mary Elaine Gibbo and Olivia O’Shields, grandsons Trent and James Swinehart and Hurst O’Shields, sister Ann Sweeney, brothers Mark Swinehart (Patty), Curt Swinehart (Paula), and John Swinehart.
