Lin E. Smith

Lin E. Smith, age 72, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Lin was born January 26, 1948 in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Bernice Smith and Byrdine Smith. A graveside service will be held for for Lin on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.

Lin graduated from Harris County High School in 1967. Shortly thereafter he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. Lin was always the one you could call to help repair something, get something running again, or build something that was needed. Lin always enjoyed being outside, especially if it involved hunting or fishing.

Lin was preceded in death by his father, Byrdine Smith, and mother, Bernice Smith; a brother, Charles Smith; a sister, Carolyn Stewart; a brother-in-law, Everett Acree; paternal grandparents, Robert Porter Smith and Nancy Smith; and his maternal grandparents, George Stringfellow and Julia Stringfellow.

Lin is survived by two brothers, Jerry Smith (Chris Smith) and Robert Smith (Denise Smith); two sisters, Nancy Acree and Jenny Hursey (Adam Hursey); and several several nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
