complications with lung disease.
Ms. O’Kelley is survived by her mother, Sarah Hardaway Hughston; her brothers,
Edgar and Chandler Hughston; her daughter, Sarah O’Kelley; her step-daughter,
Kathy Giles; and many friends and extended family.
Ms. O’Kelley was born in Columbus, Georgia and spent her entire life in her beloved
hometown. Here, she grew up riding and training horses and remained a lover of the
outdoors throughout her life. Whether she was walking her Jack Russel Terrier
“Eddie” around the park or sitting in the sun at Atlantic Beach, she felt her best
when outside.
She also felt best when helping others -- from her immense generosity with family
and friends to volunteering with organizations like Open Door and Meals on Wheels.
She was a true giver.
She also enjoyed being an active member of St. Paul Methodist Church and loved her
Wildwood Sunday School group dearly.
A memorial service will be held for her at St. Paul Methodist Church on Sunday,
February 3, at 3 p.m. with a drop-in afterwards at her home.
