Margaret Ann Spencer

Margaret Ann “Peggy”Spencer, 73, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice. Peggy was born June 5, 1942 in Washington, DC to her late parents Harry Newton Hayes, Sr. and Norma Ebert Hayes. She retired after 32 years at Verizon. Peggy was a craftsman, she enjoyed needlework, woodworking and painting, however; her passion was her family, most recently spending time after school with her grandchildren laughing and playing board games.

The family will receive guests Friday, October 30, 2015 from 4:00- 7:00 pm, for a Celebration of Peggy’s Life at the home of Bobby and Cindy Hicks, 1029 Rocky Ledge Drive, Columbus, GA 31904.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Gordon Spencer of Columbus; two sons, John Smith (Michele Bossard) Hicks of Monrovia, Maryland, and Robert Alan (Cindy) Hicks of Columbus; and daughter, Laura Ann Hicks of Rougemont, NC; one sister, Norma Jean (Bill) Olson of San Jose, CA; one brother, Harry “Skeeter” (Pat) Hayes of Jessup, Maryland; grandchildren, Nicole Hicks, Angelica Kania, Shane Hicks, and Mary Margaret “Maggie”Hicks; great grandchildren, Aiden McCormick and Parker McCormick; step children, Terry Hicks Bennett, and Karen Hicks Davis; nieces, nephews, other family members, her dog “Peanut”, and many friends.
