Margarita Pisciottano Gonzalez, age 91, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. A visitation for family and friends for Margarita will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia. A graveside service will occur Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.
Margarita was born in Carmelo, Uruguay, November 26, 1933; the daughter of Humberto Pisciottano and Emmi Brϋcker. Margarita married the love of her life, Fidel Gonzalez. They were married in 1955.
Margarita was an Officer with the Salvation Army at the time of her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed embroidery, crochet, and listening to music, a favorite of hers was Sandi Patti. She always loved cardinals and the special meaning they had to her and many other Christians. Margarita was an avid fan of The World Cup and fútbol/soccer in general. She always rooted for her home country of Uruguay when their team was playing. What she truly loved was her family. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother meant the world to her. Everything was that much better when it included being with family.
Margarita is preceded in death by; her husband, Fidel Gonzalez; both of her parents; her brother; and her sister.
Survivors include: her son, Daniel A. (Sandra) Gonzalez; her daughter, Cristina (Ted) L. Metcalfe; her grandchildren, Ivelisse (Manny) Cabrera, Kristen (Matt) Sudman, Samantha Metcalfe, Gabriel (Linaya) Gonzalez; and her great grandchildren, Liliana Cabrera, Miguel Cabrera, Kathleen Ray, Elio Gonzalez, Philip Sudman, and Carlos Metcalfe-Huertas.
