Maria Cruz Sanchez-Rosario

Maria C. Sanchez-Rosario, 91, of Columbus, GA. passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Columbus with the Reverend (Dr.) Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends for a reception after the service at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Maria Sanchez was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico daughter of the late Evaristo Sanchez and Maria Mercedes Rosario. Maria retired from Government Service with the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico where she served as an Office Manager.

Maria was preceded in death by her loving brothers, Francisco Sanchez, Benito Sanchez , Jose Sanchez, Heriberto Sanchez and sister Rosa Sanchez of Puerto Rico.

She is survived by her son COL (Ret) Jose Feliciano, his wife, Carol, of Columbus, GA and sister, Paula Sanchez-Quinones of Puerto Rico.

Maria also leaves behind her granddaughter, Dr. Marisa Feliciano-Bergstrom, her husband Dr. Chris Bergstrom and a grandson Marc Feliciano and his wife Chelsea. She also took great joy in her three great granddaughters Taylor, Linsey, and Brooke Bergstrom, all of Atlanta, GA. and many other loving family members and friends.

Maria was a faithful and devoted member of the First Baptist Church. In her younger years she sang in the choir and enjoyed attending the Young In Heart luncheons and church dinners. She was an active participant and leader in Bible study groups. Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com.
