Marion was born in Baxley, Georgia to John Roy and Lester Belle Davis on December 17, 1935.
She graduated from Baker High School in 1954.
Marion married James David Baker, the love of her life, in October 1955. They were married for 52 years until his death in 2008. Together they created a loving Christian home for their children, Mark Alan Baker and Susan Gail Casciaro. Later, as grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, they brought much joy and sunshine to her life.
She was a longtime faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church and served in various ministries over several decades. She was employed by Langley-Williams Tax Service for 50 years.
Marion's life was centered around loving Jesus through his church and loving her family unconditionally. Though she had a gentle soul, the backbone of her faith in Christ was unmistakable. Her marriage and life with "PaPa" Baker was legendary. What a couple they made! She was ready to go long before God called her home. Rejoice with us that she has embraced her savior Jesus and her faith has become sight. Also celebrate that, after 16 years, the reunion with Daddy that she had longed for is finally here! We can only imagine!
Marion is survived by her children, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her sister Peggy Lambert, and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
