

Marion Elizabeth Harris Collier November 15, 1913 - August 9, 2010 ATLANTA, GA— Marion Elizabeth (Beth) Harris Collier, 96, of Columbus , Georgia, passed away Monday August 9, 2010 at Vista Care Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia .
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Buddy Cooper and Reverend John Fugh officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
Mrs. Collier was born November 15, 1913 in Rome, Georgia, daughter of the late George Alexander Harrison Harris and Effie Broach Harris of Rome, Georgia and preceded in death by her husband, Frank Marion Collier, Jr. A retired Muscogee County teacher, Mrs. Collier attended Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon, Georgia and was graduated from Shorter College with a bachelor degree in Education. She received her Masters degree in Education from Auburn University. She taught elementary school in Rome, Georgia and at Clubview Elementary School and Johnson Elementary School in Columbus . At St. Paul United Methodist Church, she was a member of the choir, the Miller-Wilson Sunday School Class, Marys and Marthas Circle, and the Worship Committee. She enjoyed attending weekly Bible study classes. In the community, Mrs. Collier was an active member of Azalea Garden Club, DAR , on the board of the Open Door Community House, and the River Club. She also dearly loved her two monthly bridge clubs. She is survived by her son, Alec Harris Collier of Columbus, Georgia and a daughter, Coopie Collier Foshee and her husband, Danny of Vidalia, Georgia. She has three grandchildren, Meredith Foshee Thompson and husband, Les, of Smyrna, Georgia, Elizabeth Hart Foshee of New York, NY, and Daniel Harris Foshee and his wife, Naomi of Tucker, Georgia. She has one great grandson, Jake L.V. Thompson Foshee, and two great grandsons due in September and October.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Open Door Community House, and PAWS of Columbus, Georgia.
