

Marion Wells Roberts March 23, 1924 - February 6, 2010 FOUNTAIN, FL — Marion Roberts, 85, of Fountain, FL went to be with her Lord and Savior after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles G. Roberts of Bloomingburg, OH; her parents, Edward H. Wells and Sarah Artis Highnote of Buena Vista, GA; her younger sister, Luella Wells Hunt of Columbus, GA; and nephews, Edward R. Wells of Columbus, GA and Tony Banks of Albany, GA. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her only child, Paula Aline Roberts Strickland and her husband, Ronald Dean Strickland of Fountain, FL; two grandsons, Charles "Chuck" G. Strickland and wife, Rhonda Saunders and their sons, Charles Glen and Patrick Dean, and David Benjamin Strickland and wife, Brandi Brooks, all of Hogansville, GA; one granddaughter, Kimberly Starr Strickland of Columbus, GA; a brother, Robert H. Wells and wife, Sybil Goodwin of Columbus, GA; a sister, Audrey Wells Banks of Albany, GA; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Roberts of Gulfport, MS and Jerri King of Ohai, CA. She and her husband were active members of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church in Columbus, GA. Upon moving to Fountain after her husband's death, she became a steadfast member of Green Hills United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the fellowship and love of its members. The fifth Sunday singing and dinner on the grounds were two of her favorite things. She loved to play games of all kinds and thoroughly enjoyed a good joke. She was a great joke teller herself. Mrs. Roberts loved bowling and did so for many, many years. She enjoyed the many years of travel and friends made during her husband's long military career in the Army. She is loved by many and will be missed. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM EST Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 AM EST until service time at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Evergreen Memory Gardens where there will be a brief graveside service for the immediate family only.
