

Martha Swint Warren, 95, of Waverly Hall, Ga. passed away October 22, 2017 at Columbus Hospice. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus.
Mrs. Warren was born on February 12, 1922 in Ellerslie, Ga. to the late Robert Lee Swint and Camilla Carter Swint. Mrs. Warren spent her life in faithful service and devotion to her husband of 70 years, her family and her church. Mrs. Warren was a descendant of one of the original families to settle and establish Harris County, Ga. She grew up in Ellerslie living with her parents and her three brothers, and in 1943 married her husband, Jeptha, a pilot in the United States Army Air Corp. After moving briefly to Macon, Ga., Mrs. Warren soon returned with her husband to Harris County, settling in her home in Waverly Hall, where she lived for many years.
During her lifetime, she dedicated countless hours in volunteer service to various organizations and committees within her church, including children’s Sunday School, the Woman’s Missionary Union and Sunbeams. She was an active member of the Woman’s Club of Waverly Hall, as well as The Gideons International Women’s Auxiliary. She possessed a great love for literature, reading hundreds of books during her lifetime. She was also a gifted seamstress, whose needlepoint and cross-stitch handiwork was displayed throughout her home and in her church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, neighbor and sister in Christ who loved her family and friends deeply.
Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brothers, Billy, Bob and Alvin Swint. She is survived by her daughter, Nelle Wells (Billy) of Columbus, Ga.; son, Neal Warren (Anne) of Canton, Ga.; son, Mark Warren (Cindy) of Ballwin, Mo. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family and many caring friends.
