Martha Christene Widgeon

Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 11:00am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend Chuck Griffith officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00am until time of the service.

Martha Christene Widgeon was born on May 6, 1929 in Cleburne County Alabama to the late Emma Elizabeth and William David Anderson. She worked in the Fieldcrest Mills; she was married to the late William H. Widgeon, Sr. Mrs. Christene was a very artistic homemaker where she was a fabulous cook; she seamstress, and gardener. She could cook, sew, and grow almost anything she set her mind to doing.

Survivors include her four children: Larry Griffice(Janice) Freeman, Delores Widgeon Grier, William “Bill” H. (Peggy) Widgeon, Jr., and James Edward(Merry) Widgeon; grandchildren, Larry G. Freeman, Jr., Angela (Edward) Silverthorn, Robert Lorne (Alexandra) Grier, Amy (TJ) Hutto; great-grandchildren, Katerina Grier, Logan Grier, Garrett Robert Grier, Leonardo Santos, Heaven Hutto, David McCasland, Cheyenne Silverthorn, and Trinity Harding; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
