Mary was born on February 26, 1933 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Herman and Laura McWilliams. As she spent her life in Phenix City, she graduated from Central High School as the class of 1951. Mary dedicated her years as a self-employed beautician, she married her loving husband, Jim W. Solomon, and together they started a family.
Mary was raised Baptist and was unwavering in her faith for the last 92 years, as it was very important to her. She loved her family and their get-togethers, her children and grandchildren were her world. She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles, but in her free time, she loved watching the Atlanta Braves. Aside from that, she was a fan of casinos, German volksmarching, and anything chocolate.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Laura McWilliams, her husband Jim W. Solomon, two sons—Jim W. Solomon Jr. and Mark A. Solomon, as well as her three brothers and one sister.
Mary is survived by her son Mitchell A. Solomon, her daughter Laura L. Campbell, three sisters—Toni Prevatt, Regina Markum, Teresa Buchanan, and two brothers—Wilbur McWilliams and David McWilliams.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Fisher Chapel at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, followed by a celebration of life funeral service at 11:00 AM with Jesse Markum officiating. She will be laid to rest at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907.
