Funeral services for Mary Jane Underwood, 89, of Columbus, will be at 1 PM, Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home on Macon Road, with Scott Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 12 PM until service time; interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
Mary Jane passed away August 27th at her residence. She was born September 2nd, 1927 to Melvin and Willie B. Dudley Underwood of Columbus.
She graduated from Jordan High School in 1945 where she excelled in sports. She was inducted into the Georgia Softball Hall of Fame in the early nineties.
She worked most of her adult life for Calloway Enterprises and retired as Executive Vice President.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Sister, Louise Ginn; brother,Jack Underwood; Sister-in-law, Ruth Underwood; niece, Jane Kilpatrick; and two infant sisters.
Survivors include, niece, Wanda (Bruce) Brown; Great nephews, Shane Kilpatrick, Scott(Jennifer) Brown; Great niece, Beverly(Jamie) Jenkins; Great Great nephews, Drew and Deven Jenkins and Will Brown.
