She was born on April 15, 1931 in Arlington, Georgia to the late Emma Lee Dykes Swords and Mack Swords. Melba was married to the late John R. Duncan and lived in Columbus, Georgia most of her life. She loved her family, making sure all were cared for, it was her passion. She enjoyed going to church at Edgewood Baptist Church when she was able and if not she would watch services that were televised. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Melba Jean Duncan leaves her legacy to her three daughters, Janice Jordan, Joan Cardona (Joseph) and Debbie Patrick (Russell), seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia. Burial will follow to Parkhill Cemetery. Family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in the Wynnton Room of Striffler-Hamby from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
