Michael Lamar Dixon Sr. passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 62. He was born on September 23, 1963 in Montgomery, Alabama to Lewis and Sarah Dixon before they moved to Dayton, Ohio where he lived most of his life. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School and attended some college before he chose to join the United States Army. Michael married his wife, Susanne Dixon, in August of 1986 until 2006 and remarried in September of 2024.
Michael proudly served his country for twenty years in the United States Army as a Bradley Instructor in the Infantry. He served in Desert Storm before receiving an honorable discharge in 2004, ranked as SSG-EG. After retirement, he worked as a gunsmith in CCEP Fort Benning for 15 years.
Outside of his role in the Army, Michael enjoyed watching sports; whether it was football (he was a big Ohio State fan!), bowling, or basketball. He was a big dog lover, especially his pom-a-poo, Mimi, who passed away two years ago. Barbecuing and going to the movies were other things he liked to do in his free time. But his absolute favorite thing was spending time with his family and friends, nothing could top how much love he loved swimming in the pool with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Sarah Dixon, his son Michael Lamar Dixon Jr., his sisters Linda Dixon and Mary McDaniel, and his brother Henry Dixon. Michael is survived by his loving wife Susanne Dixon, his son Dennis Dixon and daughter-in-law Tiara Dixon, daughters Michelle Rankins and Ayana Bracken-Hucks, and a host of brothers and sisters, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Michael is greatly missed by those who knew him, but he is watching over his family and friends next to his son Michael Lamar Dixon Jr.
