Michael "Mikey" Charles Jacobs

Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2000 Kay Circle, Columbus, GA. 31907 with Father Jeremiah McCarthy, Father Gerard Schreck and Father Jacob Almeter officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm with a Rosary to be said at 7:00 pm at St. Anne Catholic Church.

Mikey graduated from St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School in 2011 and went on to Georgia Southern where he was on the fishing team. While undergoing chemotherapy at the beginning of his sophomore year, he worked part-time at Real Tree, a position that kept the spark going in his life. His passion was fishing and he worked magic with the fishing pole, catching fish when no one else could. He will be remembered for his true love of life, living each and every moment to its fullest and capturing people with his radiant smile.

Survivors include his parents Tom and Wendy Jacobs, his brothers Chris Jacobs, Kevin Jacobs and John Jacobs, grandparents Tom and Joan Jacobs and Dick and Carol Fowler, many aunts, uncles and cousins and his faithful Golden Retrievers Jake and Maggie who were always by his side.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mikey Jacobs Fund in care of the Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley, 1340 13th St. Columbus, Ga. 31901, which will serve to create a charitable memorial project in Mikey’s honor.
