

She was the oldest of two children. Her family lived in Jacksonville, Florida, Pensacola, Florida, and St. Louis, Connecticut while her father served in numerous management positions with Monsanto. Her father then took the position of CFO with Russell Corporation in Alexander City, Alabama. The family settled in Alexander City where she attended high school and lived until going to college. Her family served an active role in the Alexander City community their entire life.
Nan attended Auburn University where she graduated with a double major in Applied Mathematics and Physics. She excelled while at Auburn and earned her degree in 1977. She continued to be an Auburn fan and loved attending games with family and friends.
After graduating from Auburn, Nan was recruited by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and worked in the West Palm Beach, Florida facility from 1977-1983. She then relocated to Columbus, Georgia to join Aflac where she served in several management positions, including 2nd Vice President of Information Technology. She formed many lifelong friends while at Aflac. One special group is fondly referred to as “The Florida Girls,” because of their annual beach trip to Florida for many years. She joined TSYS in 2000 where she worked until 2016. She was passionate and highly committed to her work. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Nan will be remembered for her dedication and love for her family, her consistency and perseverance in every job she held, her love and loyalty to her friends, and her infectious laugher and positive outlook on life. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father Finis and her mother Marjorie Morgan.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, David Michael Bufogle; daughter Sarah Nan Bufogle Pitzen, son-in-law Adam Lucas Pitzen, grandsons Lucas Morgan Pitzen and John “Jack” David Pitzen; and brother Jerry Scott Morgan.
Visitation will be at the Striffler-Hamby funeral home in Columbus, Georgia from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Services will be held graveside Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkhill Cemetery with the Reverend Chuck Hasty officiating.
The family is grateful to her caregivers for the loving, compassionate care that they gave Nan. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at John B Amos and Preferred Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John B. Amos Cancer Center 1831 5th Avenue, Columbus, Georgia and Grace Presbyterian Church of Columbus 5301 Sidney Simons Boulevard, Columbus, Georgia.
