Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus. Interment will follow in Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA. A reception will follow the services in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby at 2:00 pm.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am, until 11:30 am, at the funeral home.
Nellie M. Akridge was born on February 19, 1936 in Dexter, Georgia to the late William Columbus Wilkins and Jossie Hendrix Wilkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Akridge, Jr., a sister, Sarah Aline Wilkins Wood, and three brothers, Hoyt Wilkins, John Wilkins, and Ralph Wilkins. Mrs. Akridge enjoyed playing basketball when she was in high school, and loved to fish.
Survivors include seven children, Barbara Susan Wright (Bubba), Ruenell Crawford (Robert), Michael Akridge, Patricia Ann Koonce (Bob), Joel Ray Akridge, Joyce Bland (Tom), and Brenda Lee Ludwig and one sister, Lucille Allgood, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
