Nell was born in Mt. Vernon, TN on December 26, 1936; the daughter of Fayette Sitzler and Gussie Victoria Holcomb Sitzler. She graduated from Tellico Plains High School in Tellico Plains, TN. Nell married Everett “Jake” Colquitt, and they were married for 47 years. Nellie went to work at AFLAC/Communicorp and retired from there after years of service. Nellie had strong opinions about how things were done, she lived her life, her way, and this was known amongst the family as the “Nellie Way.” She loved get together with family and friends, she really enjoyed when people were enjoying themselves. She would often serve others, such as cooking a meal for someone in need. What Nell truly loved was her family and the time they spent together! She proudly wore the titles of Nanny and Gran-Nanny. Whether it was being a football mom, cheer mom, band mom, or chorus mom, she knew that being with her family was where she wanted to be. She taught her family, that family is more important than any material thing. If you wanted to see her eyes light up by something other than family, it was at the casino with the “one armed bandit” (slot machines).
