Ollie Merle O'Quinn, age 85, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday April 7, 2019. Merle was born February 3, 1934 in Tifton, Georgia to her late parents Litha Pearl Byrd and Louis Watson. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Phenix City.
Merle lived her life to the fullest. She was optimistic, independent and always there for her family. She loved shopping, gardening, cooking for her family, watching wrestling, and laughing with her grandchildren over snap-chat. Merle taught her children to always value life, be strong and stand for what they believe in.
Ollie M. O’Quinn was the most precious Lady you would ever meet. She was beyond the strongest and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Her family meant the most to her and she always let them know it. Her memory will live on forever.
Along with her parents, Merle was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Jackson O'Quinn, Jr. She is survived by; son Sidney Sanford Regan, Jr.; daughter-in-law Heidi Platz; daughters Denise Regan and Jill Certano; sister Marlene Mathews and sister-in-law Martha Watson; grandchildren, Breana Hendrix (Justin), Kara Carroll (Dylan), Courtney Sladden (Mike), Cory Regan (Jennifer), Lindsay Neilson (Jay), Sara Veve (Allen); great grandchild, Emily Sladden, Nathan Veve, Tyler Veve, Mason Veve and Dakota Veve; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
A Celebration of Merle's Life will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907, followed by a Committal Burial Service at 12:30 PM at Main Post Cemetery on Custer RD, Ft. Benning, GA. Reverend Barry Danner to officiate. Family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services.
