Raymond “Jerry” Baxter, of Buena Vista, Georgia, passed away on February 5, 2025. A man who dedicated his life to serving others through law enforcement, giving generously, and fiercely protecting his family—the devoted husband, the strong big brother, the rock of a father—has decided to go on a fantastic fishing trip in Heaven.
Born in Athens, Georgia, in 1949 to Grace and Rueben Baxter. Jerry lived a life filled with love, loyalty, and laughter. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Tina Baxter; his two daughters, Annessa Scott and Michelle Matthiae; his grandson, Jaden; and his son-in-law, Brian. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Sandra Patterson and Debbie Baxter; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne and Ronald Baxter, and a sister, Donna Bartlett.
It’s impossible to articulate the feeling when one door closes in this world and opens in the next, except to say: We love you and miss you so much. Your legacy will live on through us.
Jerry Baxter
