

Ricky Carl Hightower, age 49, resident of Midland, GA., passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Monday, December 13, 2010, 3 p.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Jeff Amsbaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. Rick, son of the late Robert Clarence Hightower and Marguerite Carol Moss Hightower, was born March 15, 1961 in Columbus. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1979. Rick went on to hold a GA state Master Electrical and Contractor License. He then worked and retired from Tom’s Foods where he faithfully served for 20 years. Rick then spent the past six years of his career as part of a dedicated team at the Columbus Water Works. They became his extended family and Rick loved each and every day of his time there. He was a member of the G.A.W.P. Rick leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of 15 years, Dawn Hightower and their two young daughters, Rikki Hightower and Samantha Hightower; his oldest daughter, Brittney Hightower; his two step-children, Will Burch and Amie Burch; three brothers, Larry Hightower and his wife Linda, Terry Hightower and his wife LaQuita, and Roy Hightower and his wife Angela; two sisters, Janice Knox and Brenda Karastury and her husband Frank; many nieces and nephews along with many other loving relatives and friends. Rick and Dawn would like to extend their deep gratitude to their work families at the Columbus Water Works and TSYS. They would also like to thank the caring staff at the John B.
