     I would like to relate a few of my memories of Honk, some of which you know or have heard and maybe something that you did not know.
     First, there is something that you probably haven't heard.  Honk and I were riding on my newly repainted Cushman motor scooter.  As we went over a gravel road, the scooter went down and it messed up the new paint job and both of us were scratched pretty bad.  I went home and applied some medicine and I assume that Honk did also.  However, he had promised his mother that he would do some painting for her and so he started doing that.  After a while, he felt pretty bad and for some reason, his mother decided to take him to the emergency room.  Good thing that she did as he was using leaded paint and she was told that he had lead poisoning and, had she not brought him in, he might not have survived.  So you see, he got a lot of years that he might not have had!
     Then, there were some trips that we took in two of his automobiles.  The first was the infamous 1931 Chevy that was featured in the picture that I gave to you.  We went to Daytona (can't remember who else was involved but probably Thacker Cargill and a three more).  We slept in an abandoned light house at the mouth of the St. John River and skimped on meals by going to a cafeteria (lets say five went in and ate and we paid three tickets as we went out--not the Christian thing to do but we have tried to live that down).  And then there was the trip in Honk's 1937 Ford where he and I went to Mississippi and stayed with my Grandmother and later went down to New Orleans.  We were picked up in a speed trap in La. near the Mississippi border.  We hid most of our money under the seat before we went before the justice of the peace.  We were fined $7 as I recall but when the justice of the peace found out that was (supposedly) all of the money that we had, he returned $2 to us.  On the way home, the engine developed a severe knock so we limped the last 100-150 miles to Columbus at about 20 mph.
     And Honk was always considered a "ladies man".  He wore a little lock on one of his belt loops.  Often a girl would ask him what it was for and he would tell them that his mother always locked his pants on him before he left home.       
     I don't think that we ever did anything really bad but we did have a good time.  There were trips to LaGrange and a few other places.  There were several of us that hung out together off and on---I mentioned Thacker, Billy Fowler, Dick Boutin (his mother always thought that we were a bad influence on him but maybe it was the other way around!, Don Hancock and a few others.  At any rate, the only one that I kept up with was Honk.  I always considered him a good friend and enjoyed seeing you and him during the times that we were in Columbus.
     The last memory is that he was an usher at Doris and my wedding.
     God bless you and I hope that you remember the good times and try to go lite on the illnesses and his passing.  The tributes at his memorial service were great and so far as I am concerned, accurate and lacking only in their brevity.  Regina, you can rest assurred that he was a good man that you made better.

Honk has been a loving part of our family, caring, giving, helping, understanding, trusting and much more.  I have many fond memories and see him in his children!  I am so thankful to have him in my life.  I will miss him very much and I know my immediate family will too!  Tim said he has been a great brother-in-law and my kids respected him and his fatherly ways!

Our thought and prayers are with you all, Rob & family..the only thing that has ever gotten me through times like this is knowing one day there will BE NO MORE TEARS OR GOOD-BYES!!!!...Amen!!

Honk has been a great part of my life for as long as I can remember.  He started out as a brother-in-law, but turned into a brother in the truest sense.  I will miss him greatly.  Nancy Harrison
