Robert "Petey" Cox passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 68. A visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, located at 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907, on February 12, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm. A Celebration of Petey's Life will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Seth Hon officiating.
Petey attended Columbus Technical College, where he earned a degree in automotive technology. He was married to his beloved wife, Reba, for 48 years.
Petey was passionate about tending to his yard, plants, and vegetable garden, and he was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. He loved working on cars, especially fast muscle cars, and found great joy in bowling and dart tournaments. Petey cherished playing with his dogs and spending time with his grandchildren, watching them grow into young adults.
For six years, Petey attended Asbury United Methodist Church. He was known for being easy-going, laid-back, and respectful. He taught others the importance of being mindful, respectful, and leaning on one's values and integrity. Petey encouraged others to be resourceful, to forgive, and to learn and grow from every lesson.
Survivors include: his wife, Reba; by his children, Kristina Rumme, John (Lisa) Cox, and Jonathan (Diane) Cox; his grandchildren, Triston Rumme, Jaelynn Rumme, Keara Cox, and Steven Holden; and his sister, Barbara Kennedy.
