
Robert W. Nolan January 27, 1922 - October 22, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA — Robert W. Nolan, 88, of Columbus, GA died Friday, October 22, 2010 at Vista Care Hospice. Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 25, 2010 at St. Anne's Catholic Church and a Rosary will be said 6:00 PM Sunday, October 24, 2010 at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Father Scott Winchel officiating according to Striffler Ð Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. The Knights of Columbus will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Mr. Nolan was born January 27, 1922 in Ironwood, MI, the son of the late Leo and Gertrude Ward Nolan. He had lived in Columbus for the past fifty three years and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp having served in the 3rd Division. Mr. Nolan retired from AFLAC as a computer programmer. He was an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, active lecture, a volunteer in the Outreach Center, and choir member for many years. He was a member of Knight's of Columbus, and a past Grand Knight. He was a member of the Barber Shop Quartet Society and was the author of "A Marines Tale" a book about World War II. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, E. Max Nolan; four sons, Robert W. Nolan, Jr. and his wife, Gordana, Danny Nolan and his wife, Julia, Richard Nolan, and David Nolan and his wife, Sandra; six grandchildren, Marie Nolan, Elizabeth Nolan, Lisa Northington and her husband, Chris, Sasha Nolan, Christopher Nolan and Kellie Nolan; two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Madison Northington; two sisters, Peggy Halpin and husband, Eugene and Mary Ann Wolfe and husband, George; two brothers, Leo and Bernard Nolan
