

He was born on September, 22, 1926 to the late Jessie Milford Parker and Samantha Magnolia Moore Parker, in Rabun County, Clayton, Georgia. He received his education in Bullock, County School System. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. After his Military career he worked as a Firefighter for the Ft. Benning Fire Department until his retirement. He was a Master Mason and a former member of Central Assembly of God Church where he served as a Deacon and the church secretary. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Evangel Temple Assembly of God and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.
A graveside funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 21, 2010 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Alabama, with Reverend Walter Phillips, Sr. officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, 31907. The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Willie Kate “Joyce” Parker, his parents Jesse and Samantha Parker, four brothers; J. M. Parker, Jr., Buren Parker, Raymond Parker and Winfred Parker., four sisters; Marie Coleman, Mary Ann Hollifield, Mildred Palmer and Hazel Norton, son; Randall Leddon, a Great Granddaughter, Melissa E. Leddon.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia D. Johnson, Columbus, GA, Sandra J. Stokes, Phenix City, AL, one son; Leroy Ledddon (Ann), Ft. Worth, TX, two sisters; Maude (Lyman) Burrell, Atlanta, GA., Margie Burton, Fredericksburg, VA., one daughter-in-law, Angella Leddon. He has six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Two very special friends; Shane and Helen Wright. Honorary pallbearers, Shane Wright, David Leddon, Steve Leddon and J. R. Davis.
