He was born in Slocomb, Alabama, the middle child and only son of Carson T. Skinner and Doris (White) Skinner. In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his two sisters, Margaret Skinner Bartlett and Robbie Skinner Ledford; and one daughter, Kathryn D. Skinner. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Warren Skinner; his two daughters, Ginger S. Morrow and Amy S. Bennett; his stepdaughter, Loxie R. Wilson; his stepson, Ray Ritchie; his grandchildren, Victoria Hughes, James Sidebottom, Megan Determan, McGuire Bennett, Casey Bennett, and Marc Wilson; and his great grandchildren, Drew Hughes, Grayson and Crosby Young. A special appreciation goes out to his caregiver of 1 ½ years, Diana Berry.
After serving his country in the Navy, Roy accepted a position at Bell South where he retired after 42 years. He was a lover of the outdoors, enjoyed working with his hands, and spending time with family and friends. One of his proudest possessions was a restored 1970 Chevrolet work truck that he acquired while employed at Bell South. Roy was also a proud member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia free and accepted Masons of Midland #144.
