

Ruby Kate Bundrick, 91, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Columbus, GA died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Atlanta Hospice, Atlanta, GA.Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. 31907 with Reverend Dun Gordy officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the funeral home. Ruby was born October 18, 1919 in Goshen, AL. Her parents were George W. and Mae King Head. She lived in Alabama until she finished high school then moved to Columbus, GA where she married M.C. Bundrick on June 15th, 1938. They lived in Columbus for 62 years before moving to Sarasota, FL in April 2001 to be near their son Wayne. M.C. died in October of 2001 and Wayne and Helen have been wonderful caregivers since that time. Ruby was a retired hairdresser. She was a member of Wynnbrook (formerly Wynnton) Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school in the junior department for many years. She was a member of the Lillian Harris Sunday School class until she moved to Florida.
Ruby is survived by one son, Wayne Bundrick and his wife Helen of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, Janet Burnley and husband Rick of Orlando, FL and Jenny Hill and husband Marshall of Atlanta, GA; one great-grandson, Benjamin Burnley of Tallahassee (via Orlando), FL; one step-daughter, Ann Kelley and her husband Don of Troy, AL; two step-grandsons, Ken Kelley and his wife Debbie of Troy, AL and Keith Kelley of Montgomery, AL; four step-great-grandchildren, Chance and Abbie Kelley of Troy, AL and Josh and Jacob Kelley of Montgomery, AL; one brother, George Head and his wife Patsy. Ruby is also survived by many nieces and nephews who meant so much to her. Ruby and M.C. loved to fish and enjoyed sharing fish with family and friends. She also loved to cook and to have company over to eat and play Rook and Bridge. When her granddaughters were little, she enjoyed sewing for them, having them come to visit and cooking the things they loved.
