Dr. Scott Jay Stewart, age 57, of Midland, GA passed away on July 16, 2020. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Scott was born on May 5, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Barbara Jean and Jay Edwin Stewart. Scott graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and graduated from Auburn University with a PhD in Psychology. Scott was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and he married Ann Petersen on April 23, 1983 in the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. They have three daughters, Stormi, Amber, and Ashley. He lived his life for his family. Raising his three girls, he became a Dance Dad and attended all recitals and competitions. During this time Scott opened his own psychology practice: Southeastern Psychological Consultant, Inc. He was the recipient of the 2020 Best Psychologist Reader’s Choice Award by the Ledger Enquirer. Scott enjoyed many things in his life; all genres of music, playing guitar, singing, traveling throughout the world with his wife, including all 50 States, Russia, Panama Canal, Iceland, all over Europe, all over the Caribbean, and Canada, pool days, going to the beach and the Nebraska Cornhusker football and the Columbus Cottonmouths. He was a season ticket holder from 1997 until their final season and picked them up again with the River Dragons. What Scott loved was his family, spending time with them, supporting them in their education, goals, aspirations, and making them laugh as only he could. He always tried his best to be the best husband and greatest dad he could be.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Jean and Jay Edwin Stewart, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska and Springville, Utah.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Petersen Stewart; his three daughters, Stormi Ann Stewart, Amber Leigh (Jordan) McKinney, and Ashley Jean (Levi) Lind; three grandchildren, Georgia Lyn Wright, Tristan Reed McKinney, Penelope Lane Lind; a brother, Shaun Stewart; many other relatives and friends of the family will cherish his memory.
