Shawn Brazil

Shawn Brazil, 46, of Fortson, GA died Monday, August 15, 2011 at The Medical Center.Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Paul Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 17 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Shawn was born December 19, 1964 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Dr. Jerrell and Mary Ann Hursey Brazil. He loved the outdoors and was a member of the NRA. Shawn enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He also loved to cook for family and friends. His presence will be missed daily, but his memory will live forever in our hearts. In addition to his parents, Shawn was preceded in death by his mother in law, Brenda Turner. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Beverly Brazil of Fortson, GA; his daughter, Kailey Elizabeth Brazil of Fortson, GA; four aunts, Dell Weir, Sandra Levine and her husband, Dr. Sidney Levine, Katherine Self, and Sandra Griffard; father in law, Harry Turner and his wife, Glenda; numerous other family members and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Jiang and the staff of the John B. Amos Cancer center, and the Medical Center Oncology Department for the care and support they provided to Shawn. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the John B.
