She was born on August 22, 1944, and was passionate about many things - her family, her friends, her church, and music. Sue was a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School (Class of 1962) and excelled as a musician in the JVHS band (under the direction of Bob Barr). She was also a gifted pianist with a unique and recognizable style of playing. She began playing piano in church when she was 13 and continued to play weekly until her illness prevented her from doing so at the age of 81. Among the congregations blessed by her talent were Hamp Stevens Methodist, St Mark Methodist, Striplin Terrace Methodist, and East Highland Methodist.
In addition to her family, friends, church, and music, Sue enjoyed reading, writing, and outings with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Sasser; her parents, Gladys and Earl Miller; her brother, Jimmy Miller.
She is survived by her children, Mark Sasser (Paula) and Susan Sasser; her grandchildren: Eric Bowers (Tiffany), Allen Bowers, Paige Johnson (Justin), Katie Hudgens (Andrew), Staci Jones (Lacey), Zack Floore, and Chad Floore (Samantha); eighteen great grandchildren ; sister, Helen M. Pharris; sister in law Gladys Jones ; many nieces and nephews; friends too numerous to count.
A service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 2pm in Fisher Chapel of Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Sue’s family will visit with friends one hour prior to service (1pm). Burial will follow the service in Parkhill Cemetery. A reception in the Mill Room of Striffler Hamby will be held following all services.
