Susan Flowers Fortson

Susan Kirk (Flowers) Fortson, age 71, of Columbus, Georgia entered into eternal rest on Sunday August 26, 2018. Susan was born July 27, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana to her late parents Julia (Hunter) Flowers and Joseph James Flowers. Susan loved God and her family with all of her heart. She enjoyed music, dancing, eating her favorite Southern foods, and watching Georgia Bulldog football. Susan was a longtime member of Holy Family Church. The family will welcome guests for a visitation Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a Rosary from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Funeral Mass will occur Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 320 12 St, Columbus, GA 31901, followed by a Committal Service at Parkhill, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Susan is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, William "Bill" Fortson, Jr.; daughter Laura Fortson (Charles) Kurtz of Columbus; son Brad Fortson of Columbus; sister Marie Maie Flowers Doty of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren Katie (Jerry) Collier, Julia (Zach) Cohoon, Harrison Kurtz, Ava Rainey Kurtz, and Mackenzie Fortson, great grandchildren Landon Collier and Hunter Collier; nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members. Susan’s family would like to give special thanks to Preferred Care Hospice, Brookdale Memory Care, and especially to her angel, Cynthia Boddy, who took such loving care of her.
