

Susan C. Howard passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at her home in Columbus, Georgia surrounded by family and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 29, 2015, 2:00pm in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia, followed by Funeral Service at 3:00 pm, in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, with a private burial at Parkhill Cemetery.
Susan C. Howard was born January 13, 1950 in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late Harold Sylvester Coulter, Sr. and late Mary Stewart Coulter. She was educated in the public schools of Phenix City, AL., and graduated from Central High School. She also attended Troy University. After college, Susan worked several years at Fourth National Bank in Columbus and met her future husband, Bev Howard, who was her customer at the bank. They started dating and the result of their relationship was a 40 year marriage and two loving daughters, Mary Anna Howard and Carolyn Coulter Howard.
Beautiful inside and out, Susan’s life was a reflection of her love for her family, friends and community as evidenced by involvement in her children’s activities, unwavering support for her husband and her years of service to her community through the Junior League of Columbus, Sprig & Dig Garden Club and many other endeavors. Susan was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Susan is also survived by two step-children, Lisa Howard Morris (Michael) and Neal H. Howard (Becki), grandchildren, Claire & Cameron Morris and Colton, Kassady & Beau, one brother, Sonny Coulter (Kathy), two nephews, Jay Coulter and Sam Coulter, two aunts, Jackie Harvey and Carolyn Mavrelis (Harry), special cousin, Barbara Harvey McCollum, M.D. (Eric) and long-time special assistant Angela Willis.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for all of Susan’s caregivers during her illness: Delinda, Grace, Crystal, Rebecca, Rene, Nicole, Debbie, Earnestine, as well as her Hospice Care team, Rita, Jessica, Rev. Michael Stiggers, Charity, Polly, Shakaira, Richard, Jennifer, Chris and Pam.
