We remember a man whose life was rooted in faith, family, and service. He lived for Jesus, dedicating his life not only to his family but also to his church and the children’s ministry, which he faithfully served for over 40 years. His faith wasn’t just something he believed—it was something he lived every day.
He loved deeply—his wife Margaret, whom he cherished, were married in Columbus on May 15, 1970. She and Edgar made the Columbus area their home. Together they built a wonderful life for them and their children. He found joy in the outdoors, in hunting, and in working with his hands. He had a true gift—a green thumb that could grow just about anything. More than that, he grew something even more important: a strong, loving family. From him, many learned to love the outdoors, simple moments like camping, and the world around us. He found happiness in the little things, especially in his grandbabies, who brought him so much joy, and in quiet moments like watching old westerns.
His legacy is clear: a love for family, for country, and for God. A man who served his nation proudly as a United States Marine and his family with the same strength and devotion. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Edgar is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Sidney Pope.
Survivors include: his loving wife of over 50 years, Margaret W. Pope; his children, Thomas R. Pope, Tabitha Brown, Ruth Ann Shuler, Timothy Pope; 12 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
