Tom S. Minor, age 85, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, 2 p.m. with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 12 noon till 2 p.m.
Mr. Minor, son of the late Frank Minor and Catherine Corelli Minor, was born October 17, 1933 in Kline, Pennsylvania. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Benning, where he faithfully worked in Communications for over 30 years. Mr. Minor was a member of 2nd Baptist Church and served as a head usher. He was an umpire and referee for several high school sporting events for several years; an avid Atlanta Falcons fan and also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Minor enjoyed gardening, and was an "information bank" for many of the family members. His family will remember him as a hard working man who always put his family first.
He is survived by his wife Sue Minor of Columbus; one daughter, Cathy Hodges and her husband Steve of Harris County, Georgia; one son, Steve Minor of Harris County, Georgia; two brothers, Dan Minor of Hazleton, Pennsylvania and Anthony Minor of Kelayers, Pennsylvania; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Minor; three brothers; and two sisters.
