Vera Sybil Tokarz, age 81, passed away on December 21, 2011. Graveside services will be held in Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Tuesday from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM with a procession to follow to the cemetery.
Mrs. Tokarz was born on January 21, 1930 to the late Zollie Robert and Mary Alice Raley in Goshen, AL. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Gold Star Wives. Mrs. Tokarz was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Peter Tokarz.
Survivors include three children, David R. Tokarz of Columbus, Linda S. Tokarz of Massachusetts and Julia Hodges of Forsyth, GA; four grandchildren, Melissa Stripling of Manchester, GA, David M. Tokarz of Acworth, GA, Ryan Roberts of Fort Stewart, GA and Erin Hodges of Kennesaw, GA; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Mount of Phenix City, AL, a sister-in-law, Bernice Raley of Troy, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
