Thomas “Wade” Mobley transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, November 8, 2024. Wade was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 6, 1970 to Richard Berryman Mobley and Anne Wade Mobley. He graduated from Hardaway High School and attended Valdosta State College. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Georgia. He was employed by AFLAC for over 30 years across several departments to include policy services and auditing. He was a beloved member of the AFLAC Team.
Wade was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Anne Wright Wade and Joseph Albert Wade, Sr. of Columbus; his paternal grandparents Ann Bloodworth Mobley and William Thomas Mobley of Columbus; and his step brother Daniel Louis Eatman of Rapid City, South Dakota.
Wade is survived by his wife Lola Sturkie Mobley; mother, Anne Wade Eatman (Jack); father, Berry Mobley (Karen); brother Richard Mobley (Amy); children: William “Will” Mobley, Caroline Mobley (fiancé Drake Holloway), Walker Mobley, stepson Geiger Sturkie all of Columbus; step brother Mark Eatman of New Castle, Wyoming and his children Morgan Eatman and Blake Eatman of New Castle, Wyoming; nephews Richard Berryman Mobley III and Gardner Thomas Mobley. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Wade had many hobbies. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hunt, and spend time making memories at Panama City Beach, Florida. He was also a lover of all sports; football, baseball, NASCAR, and especially his Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.
Wade loved and cherished his family and friends. He was always focused on creating special memories for his children and wife by taking them to many country music concerts, vacations, fishing and sporting events. His goal was to be the best father and he was. By setting the example, he also taught others how to be the best.
Wade and Lola were fortunate to have each other for the last eight years and partner and create many wonderful memories with their combined families with joint family and holiday events and celebrations.
Wade’s moto was to work hard and play harder. He was successful. He always brought fun and laughter to all occasions. He went out of his way to make people laugh.
Wade had many lifelong friends that he treated as his family and included them in every aspect of his life.
Wade was known for creating many sayings that became “Wadeisms”. Sayings that are funny and stuck with all and have now become part of his family and friends vocabulary today.
Wade was very giving and at the end he was able to donate life to others through organ donation.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to one of his favorite charities: Ronald McDonald House, Egleston Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM.
