Walter Murphy, 90, of Midland, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2017. He was born on August 10, 1926 to Otis Daniel Murphy and Ellen Mae Presley Murphy; he had two brothers and three sisters. On February 16, 1946, he married Frances Johnson; they have been lifelong resident of the Columbus area.
Walter had many gifts; he was a self-taught mechanic, a home-improvement craftsman, and a regular Mr. Fixit. There was no denying Walter was a country boy; it was even his CB handle back in the day, country boy. He loved and cherished Frances for many reasons, two of those reasons included her biscuits and southern country cooking. Through the years he enjoyed raising chickens, cows, pigs, and going coon hunting.
He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Thomas “Tommy” Murphy, one brother and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Frances; a daughter Connie; a grandson Dylan Pass; a brother David Murphy; a sister Eileen Riles; a nephew who was like a son, William Presley; and several nieces and nephews.
