William Lorrell Reed

William L. Reed, age 73, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 surrounded by his family. A funeral service for Mr. Reed will be held Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Ft Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 Highway 165, Fort Mitchell, Alabama 36875.

Mr. Reed was born January 17, 1948, in Columbus, GA, the son of William Reed and Julia Culpepper Reed.

Known as Lorrell, he lived and went to school in Columbus. He joined the U. S. Army in 1969 and served 6 and a half years. During this time, he completed 2 tours in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

Lorrell is preceded in death by his parents: father, Bill Reed, step-mother, Chie; mother, Julia Fuller; a sister, Nora Westberry; and a niece, Judy.

Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Karen Sue Geter; two sons, William Shaun (Jessica) Reed, Christopher Reed; a granddaughter, Alexis; three grandsons, CJ, Lucian, Shaun Reed; one great grandson, Ayden Vaughn; one brother, Larry Love: four sisters, Darlene (Bill) Thomas, Nonnie (Jim) Wells, Peggy (Eric) Yruegas; and numerous other family members who will cherish his memory.
