He was born August 16, 1948 in Columbus the son of Albert William Baker, Sr. and Josephine Ballard Baker. He graduated from Columbus High School where he was the MVP of the baseball team. He went to Indiana State University before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as an artillery mechanic. He spent his career as a distribution manager of several large companies before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed his friends, boating, camping and watching sports.
He is survived by son, Zach Baker of Indianapolis; brothers, Mike Baker of Columbus and John (Sherry) Baker of Rockville, IN; sister, Diane (Stan) Bock of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to time of service at the funeral home.
