

Blanche Mae Jewell Bryant, 88 of Columbus, died Sunday 11-9-14 at 4:17 a. m. at her home. Borne in Scott County, IN she was the daughter of William C. and Eliza Wright Jewell. She married Johnny L. Bryant 10-26-40 in Louisville.
Blanche was a member of Midway Assembly of God Church, the Auxiliary of the VFW and the Columbus Bowling Association. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, watching Dancing With the Stars and spending time at her favorite casino. Blanche had worked for Cummins Engine Company for 8 1/2 years and Arvin Industries after 25 ½ years. After retirement, she worked as the Hampton Inn in the breakfast bar area and received awards for her outstanding hospitality and job performance. She was entered into the Bowlers Hall of Fame on 4-20-99 after bowling for many years and serving in many of their officer positions of the Columbus Bowling League.
The funeral service for Blanche will be Thursday 11-13-14 at 10:00 a. m. in Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. with Pastor Virl Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 4-8:00 p. m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Blanche is survived by her children; Bonnie (Charlie) Roberts, Richard Bryant, Vickie Cross, Mary (Brian Foley) Goss, all of Columbus, Johnny D. (Gail) Bryant, Hope and Connie Schaefer, Hartsville; 20 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on 5-30-07; children, Bill Bryant, Sharon Hash; sons-in-law, Alton Cross and Mark Schaefer; grandsons, Clinton Blasdel and Aaron Cross.
