

Born August 27, 1957, in Japan to Jon and Shirley (Moss) Campbell while his father was serving in the military, Charles grew up with a deep sense of duty that shaped his entire life.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. After his military service, Charles continued dedicating himself to others as a firefighter with the Columbus Township Fire Department for 13 years and as a certified EMT. He had a lifelong love of aviation and especially treasured his trips to the Oshkosh Air Show. In his civilian life, Charles worked a an HVAC Journeyman over ten years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jon Campbell, Jr.
Charles is survived by his sons, Tyler Campbell of Cleveland, OH, and Blaise Campbell and his fiancée, Emma Gray of New Whiteland, IN; his former wife and best friend, Joni Campbell Morris of Columbus; his grandson, Lucas Gray; and his sisters, Debra and Elizabeth. He is also survived by Joni’s mother, Nancy Morris of Wisconsin; several in-laws, nieces, and nephews; and many dear friends from the fire department.
His life was marked by service, friendship, and devotion to family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Myers-Reed Chapel with Pastor Brian Buterbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites provided by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday April 12, 2026, also at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday.
